A non-profit organization established in 1992 to benefit the children of Arlee, Montana



Who We Are:

Friends of Arlee School, Inc., is a non-profit organization which was founded in 1992 to provide supplemental support for projects in the Arlee Public Schools. FAS is comprised of individuals from the Jocko Valley community representing family agriculture, education, small business, medicine, fine arts, and the Native American culture.

The Arlee Joint School District serves approximately 450 children in grades K-12, sixty-eight percent of whom are Native American descendants and seventy-one percent improverished, based on free and reduced lunch data from the 2008-2009 school year.

Our Mission:

The mission of Friends of Arlee School is to support excellence in the education of Arlee's children by providing funds for innovative programs and projects in the schools that could not otherwise be funded.

Projects:

All contributions to Friends of Arlee School, Inc. are used to improve the quality of educational opportunity for students with an emphasis on support for mental health, academic excellence, cultural awareness, and the fine arts.

college scholarships, and teacher-requested computer hard & software, remedial and advanced reading material, reference books, wall maps, cultural enhancement materials, games and puzzles, arts and crafts enhancements, math-science technology, classroom environmental improvement, recreational equipment, field trip support, musical instruments, age-appropriate counseling materials and reference

Piloting Art Therapy services (now funded through other sources) for K-12 students through a 12 hour per week position filled by a licensed and certified Art Therapist.
Providing supplemental support for instructional materials by awarding annual mini-grants to teachers on a competitive basis.
Providing supplemental funds for arts programs,and providing occasional support for guests artists and speakers.
Providing supplemental funds for cultural programs,cultural field trips, and occasional Native speakers and performers.
Providing, through the annual Buttercup Scholarship Run fund-raising event, scholarships to students from the Arlee High School.
Supplementing the Arlee Music Program by funding a annual purchase of musical instruments not provided through general funds of the District.
